Required Tools & Materials
Installation Steps
Measuring and Cutting
-
1
Measure Carefully: Measure wall height and add 2-3 inches to both top and bottom for trimming allowance.
-
2
Check Pattern Direction: Ensure all panels are cut in the same direction to maintain consistent appearance.
-
3
Number Panels: Lightly mark the back of each panel with its position number.
Applying Adhesive
-
1
Choose Right Adhesive: Use a heavy-duty, clear-drying wallcovering adhesive recommended for fabric-backed materials.
-
2
Apply to Wall: Roll adhesive evenly on the wall area where the first panel will be installed.
-
3
Work in Sections: Apply adhesive to one panel width at a time to prevent premature drying.
Hanging the Material
-
1
Position First Panel: Start at a plumb line or corner. Carefully position the panel with excess at top and bottom.
-
2
Smooth Gently: Use a smoothing brush to remove air bubbles, working from center outward.
-
3
Align Seams: Butt seams tightly together without overlapping. Use a seam roller gently to secure edges.
-
4
Trim Excess: Once positioned correctly, trim excess material at ceiling and baseboard with a sharp blade.
Special Considerations
Working with Los Angeles Fabrics™
-
Temperature: Install in room temperature between 65-85°F (18-29°C) for best results.
-
Humidity: Maintain relative humidity between 30-50% during installation.
-
Directional Nap: Los Angeles Fabrics™ has a directional nap. Install all panels in the same direction for uniform appearance.
-
Avoid Stretching: Do not stretch the material during installation as it may cause distortion.
Pro Tip: Keep a clean, damp sponge handy to immediately wipe away any adhesive that gets on the face of the material.
Finishing Touches
-
1
Inspect Seams: Check all seams are properly aligned and secured.
-
2
Clean Surface: Gently vacuum or brush the surface to remove any debris.
-
3
Allow to Set: Let the installation cure for 24-48 hours before heavy use of the space.
Troubleshooting
Common Issues and Solutions
-
Bubbles or Wrinkles: Gently lift the affected area and reapply, smoothing carefully from center outward.
-
Visible Seams: Ensure panels are butted tightly together and all panels are hung in the same direction.
-
Adhesive on Face: Immediately clean with a slightly damp, clean white cloth. Do not rub vigorously.
-
Color Variations: This may occur if panels are installed in different directions. Always maintain consistent direction.
