Find your cleaning code
Every Los Angeles Fabrics product carries a cleaning code on its spec panel. Use the code below to determine the correct cleaning method.
| Code | Method | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| W | Water-based cleaner | Mild soap and water; blot, don't rub |
| S | Solvent cleaner | Use a water-free dry-cleaning solvent |
| WS | Water or solvent | Either method is approved by the mill |
| X | Vacuum only | Professional cleaning recommended; do not use water or solvent at home |
Routine maintenance
- Weekly — vacuum with an upholstery attachment to remove surface soil before it embeds.
- Monthly — rotate cushions and pillows so wear pattern stays even.
- Quarterly — light surface clean per the fabric's care code.
- Annually — professional deep clean by an upholstery specialist (recommended for high-traffic commercial installations).
Spot cleaning
- Blot spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub.
- Apply the appropriate cleaner per the product's care code (W, S, WS, X).
- Test on a hidden area first (back hem, underside).
- Work from the outside of the spot toward the center to avoid spreading.
- Allow to air-dry; do not use heat.
